Western Red Cedar is a traditional, sacred wood. This wood is/was used by western and northwestern Indian tribes. It is soft wood, easy to work and produces a "Native", earthy sound. You can feel the music in the flute because it is so light. The color of Western Red Cedar can vary from cream to reddish brown depending upon the availability. All wood is hand selected for clearness and tightness of grain. The photo above is representative of the flute you will receive. I know you will not find a Native American style flute that plays this sweetly and accurately for this price. Sure, you can go for a more expensive look, but for musical quality, this flute ranks with the best. All my years of experience go into constructing one of the best instruments you will ever own.
I have finished this flute, as I do all my flutes, with an extremely durable, waterproof polyurethane. First of all, it protects the flute from moisture. The air passages will not swell after extended playing times. The finish also protects the wood from U.V. rays, strengthens the wood and protects it from moisture and temperature changes. As usual, this flute comes with a turquoise cabochon and a free felt case.
Hey Richard,
I received my flute today. ( Western Red Cedar Flute)
It is a beautiful work of art.
It sounds amazing, almost hypnotic, even in the hands of this 55 year oldĀ guitar picker. ;)
Thank you my friend,
